Don't wait too long.

Back to our regularly scheduled program

So here we are at like the beginning of February and the days I was in the hospital were running together. But my time in ICU was finally coming to an end and I couldn’t wait to get home (or at least I thought). After my time in ICU they transferred me to the stroke recovery floor. This was protocol if you had a stroke like me at this hospital, but at that moment I just did not care and was ready to go home. Not to mention the stroke floor wasn’t that great.

It was overcrowded so there were like 2 patients per room so I definitely didn’t have the best of time. I was still low on energy and my strength/muscles deteriorated over time so I had no choice but to drink thick liquids and soft foods. After a few days they tried some physical therapy but my body wasn’t having it. That is when they realized my body needed to rehabilitate before I did intensive rehab/therapy.

After a few days they packed me up and sent me to the nearest rehabilitation center on February 8th, 2022. So for some slight perspective I went to ER on January 19th and going to a rehabilitation center on February 8th and all I had was a headache (or at least I thought). That’s close to a month and the best has yet to come. Can’t wait to see what the rehab center has in store for me.

About Me

I am from the south side of Chicago near the englewood area. Many things were instilled in me and one thing I remember being told was to take care of myself. As I got older I strayed away from that but the past year has taught me so much in taking care of yourself mind, body, and spirit.
